Event Location

Join us at the beautiful Roodepoort Masonic Center at Lodge AJ Haak, with breathtaking views and ideal outdoor cooking facilities for your potjie creation.

Competition Rules

Everything you need to know about participating in the Battle of the Black Pots. From ingredients to judging criteria – it's all here to ensure a fair and exciting competition.

Fire Control

Maintain a consistent fire temperature during cooking. No gas or electric appliances allowed – only wood or charcoal.

Time Limit

Maximum cooking time of 4 hours. All preparation must begin on-site with raw ingredients.

Equipment Rules

Bring your own potjie, cooking utensils, and ingredients. Potjie size must be between number 2 and 6.

Judging Criteria

Dishes will be judged on taste, presentation, authenticity, and creativity. People's Choice voting will take place throughout the day.

Team Size

Teams of 1-3 members are allowed. One team member must be designated as head chef for communication.
